When an eighty-five year old young woman approaches you, even if she's got your name wrong, and says she's got a book ready for publication, on a local subject, you listen. And that is what we did in 2000.
The result was not only King's Bromley - a century of photographs but five further titles, Snippets from the History of King's Bromley, King's Bromley - the artist's view, and, in September 2006, There's More to King's Bromley. And then her autobiography: Ivy Alexandra Butcher - Her Book followed, on the eve of her ninety-ninth birthday, by Hark Back, a transcription of conversations held from 1979 to 1982 with the then elderly members of the community, including the last residents of King's Bromley Manor. And now; for her 101st birthday, On Being a Hundred, tracing with many a wink and backward glance, the events and memories which have made her the first centenarian to have been born in the village's recorded history
